Ye Olde Hermeneutic XII #3

Ye Olde Hermeneutic

?This is perhaps the most challenging task with which we have been charged. It is not so much about being a thorn in the church?s side or about making trouble (though we are often involved in both), it is, as Walter Brueggemann reflects in The Prophetic Imagination, about being both critical and analytical, as well as people who energize with hope.? News for the Weekend of October 8-9, 2016

(Written by Rod Dugliss, edited by Rebecca Morehouse)

We Seem to be Surviving the Changes

Rod and Rebecca are now shoehorned into the shoebox and it seems to work pretty well. We have had to move records into another building for which only one person on staff [at CDSP] has the key. Rebecca?s hours seem to be working well for her. So far keeping up with ?stuff.? (?Fingers crossed,? says Rebecca)

The Changes and Chances of this Mortal Life

Mary Louise?s trial continues. She is pretty chipper but is regularly worried and exhausted by yet another wrinkle in the health care system. She and husband Greg just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Weekend Room Shifts and Other Movement
Last school weekend we were so distracted that we forgot there was a Cal home game?with attendant use of the parking lot as a CDSP Celtic Cross Society fund raiser. It seemed to work out OK for everyone including guests for our first community Eucharist and dinner?using email blasts etc.?without it being announced in this august publication (which comes out in October twice this year).

Advanced notice: Indeed, a red, or at least ?cardinal? alert. There is one more home game on a school weekend this fall. It is the November weekend [11/19] AND it is THE BIG GAME. There will be more warnings, including start time when it is finally announced, well before the event.

This Coming Weekend we are sharing the campus with the Tatkin Psychological Society. For those of you who were told that you could not use the Tucson Common Room there has been a change of plan yet again. You don?t have to move!! We have the use of the room for the weekend. The one classroom that will be affected is ?B??typically used by the small second year class. We will work with those changes with the students on the weekend.

Words to the Wise from Rebecca
Nothing much to add.  I appreciate everyone pitching in to make sure there is enough coffee, hot water, and goodies out.  I keep crackers that have been opened in plastic bags in the popcorn tin on the counter ? so don?t forget to check there first!  Also, this week I will purchase 2 one pint containers of half & half only ? let me know if this is not enough.

Important:  we received emails about 2 robberies that took place near the campus in September.  I will forward those to students.  In general, please try to always walk with at least one other person, especially after dark, and stay in well-lighted places.
